How Kipling Works

چکیده

The key operational feature that gives Kipling its power is the way that it partitions multivariate space rather than the execution of complex algorithms or computations. The original inspiration for Kipling.xla was the CMAC (Cerebellar Model Arithmetic Computer), originally designed by Albus (1975) for robotic systems and still widely used today. The CMAC design subdivides variable space into a shingled framework of overlapping blocks whose incremental offsets describes a finer mesh of cells. The basic idea is shown in the simplified diagrams for twoand three variablespace in Figure 1, but is easily extended to higher dimensions. Relatively complex patterns can be stored in this architecture, which results in large savings of computer memory as compared with a conventional gridded cell division. The contents of the blocks can be rapidly modified to collectively generate complex associations at much greater speeds than their equivalent computation through mathematical equations. This property is important for practical real-time performance in robot applications with control of elaborate articulated movements.

The Medical Kipling—Syphilis, Tabes Dorsalis, and Romberg's Test

Rudyard Kipling was the first English author to win the Nobel Prize for literature. He received this honor when he was not yet 42 years old. Indeed, Kipling's career is remarkable for its precocious success. His collection of verse Departmental Ditties was published when he was 20 years old. When he first went to England in 1889, he was already a well-known writer. In his short story Love-o'-Wo...

" Noting that " one " particular " merit. .. of these delightful works is every hour increasing, " the Gazette continues somewhat ruefully that Austen's novels are fast " becoming absolute historical pictures. I have recently been renewing my acquaintance with Rudyard Kipling Rudyard Kipling the poet, that is, as distinct from Rudyard Kipling the short-story writer and part-time novelist. R.K. the poet is very much out of favour at present, and has been these twenty years. I suppose this disfavour springs from his identification with the spirit of Empire, with the Raj, with the Great White Sahib, wit...

Texts and Politics: Postcolonial Revaluations of two British Classics

The major argument of this essay is that Kipling treats the colonial subject as the "other," and Forster proves to be almost as pro-Empire as writers like Kipling. Nevertheless, A Passage to India is eloquent in rejecting British values and introducing Indian voices. This novel records a shift in attitude in terms of exposing the bitter realities about and attitudes of British imperialists. Des...
